41 W.O.-01 30-VIII 7-9+10 Chief marooned (E2 1+2) in ice pan X being ferried to ship on little case by 2d mate Norman - 31/VIII 7-7f 1+2 (=11512) 4/90 V11- Northward from "Cluett" at 5:45 p.m. The black headland is Cape Melville - V12- Northeastward view pm. the Cluett across the ice- 5:45pm Near Cape Melville there is a beautiful half-dome (of granite?) like that in the Yosemite Valley. The precipice faces the East or Southeast. The rounded portion of the mountain is covered with snow.
