GENERIC NAMES PROPOSED BY N. PATOUILLARD
Patouillard described a number of new genera representing taxa
from all fungus groups. There are 111 genera listed. By far the
majority of these are Hymenomycetes and have been discussed nomen-
caturally by Donk in his reference works Generic names proposed for
Hymenomycetes, The generic names proposed for Agaricales, and The
generic names proposed for Polyporaceae. These genera have
received only cursory treatment here. They are listed with the
place of original publication, the type species, and the reference in
Donk. The names proposed from the Ascomycetes, Deuteromycetes, and
lower fungi have required more study. The pertinent bibliography,
the type species, and comments on subsequent placement of the genera
are given below. I have added my comments on the nomenclatural
status of the genus where appropriate. Few of these taxa have been
reassessed recently and in consequence their taxonomic status and
position deserve future study.
Ascomycetes
Bombardiastrum Pat., Bull. Soc. Mycol. France 9: 153. 1893.
Type species (only original species): Bombardiastrum
andimum Pat.
Notes: Originally placed in the Pyrenomycetes.
Colletomanginia Har.& Pat., Bull. Soc. Mycol. France 22: 203. 1906;
Comp. Rend. Hebd. Séances Acad. Sci. 142: 225. 1906.
Type species (only original species): Colletomangia
paradoxa Har. & Pat.
Notes: Engleromyces P. Henn. and Cerillum Clem. are syn-
onyms. The type species is sometimes placed in Sarcoxylon Cooke
(see von Arx and Müller, 1954). Müller (1973) considered
Engleromyces goetzei P. Henn., a portion of the holotype of which
is in the Patouillard Herbarium, to be the acceptable name. The
genus was originally referred to the Hypocreaceae by Hariot and
Patouillard, but Müller and von Arx (1973) place it in the Xylariaceae.
Cyclostomella Pat., Bull. Herb. Boissier 4: 656. 1896.
Type species (only original species): Cyclostomella disci-
formis Pat.
Notes: Müller and von Arx (1962) accepted the genus and
treated it in the Parmeiliaceae. They illustrated the type
species. Theissen and Sydow (1915) treat it in the Polystomella-
ceae.
Cylindrina Pat., Bull. Soc. Bot. France 33: 155. 1886.
Type species (only original species): Cylindrina delavayi
Pat.
Notes: Placed by Clements and Shear (1931) in the Sphaeri-
aceae.
