Gram. 1.134 & Savi 1.46?, Texas, Wright, Lewisville - collected also by Capt Pope - There seems to be great con- fusion respecting the grouping of this species which probably comprises several nominal ones - Of the middle of the foliages & presence of one short awn are the only characters which distinguish B. (Ceratochloa) brevisetatus, Hork - H. Bo. Aw that two must be added to the list of synonyms - as he is found in the same specimen & even in the same spikes with lower some sorts with longer same spikelets paleas merely acute & thus being a distinct awn as assigned by Horkle - Bromus carniatus, Bkth & Arn.
