Leaves elongated laurate - leaves 6-8" long + 2" wide at base setaceous acuminate - '7 reined - Sculums on 1 both surfaces. Panicle erect - elongated by 8-10" long (shemled at base or short scattered spikes minors 40 or some) 2" long + slightly thready solitary or fasciculate + subtrichitate. Rachis slender minute cloud sculums, culms & leaves densely flowered the whole length with nearly Lepite acute 7-8 fleurs. 1 Sphelets. Glumes unequal - lower acute + narrow along 2/3 the length of the spike then submucronate upper one which is lep than 2/3 the length of the Sphelet. flowers nitricate, upper most imperfect - lower palea along glum. subtrees - membraneous 3 reined (lateral nerves marguled, denticulate + bifid as deep) the central nerve slightly produced - lower half of marginal nerves long pilose - Upper palea equaling the lower, broadly biconvate More + denticulate as deep, prior to the nerves. Stamina 3 - long short stiptule. Styles 2, simply plumose, purple - Squamules 2 broadly crenate, entire. Seed elong, fattier concave on the sowers face, loose in the pericarp - best situations along the Rio Grande, at the Gray Valley School - Fort Yuma Maj Thomas.
