Glumes of central spikelet cuneate, narrow at base; [elance] acute, deeply cleft in the centre into numerous arms; the centre longest – [illegible] margin pilose ciliate, upper glume similar. Spikelets 2 – stipitate, lower pulvin 3 armed, irregularly 2-5fid at the apex – ciliate at apex – armed from mid base; the lobes of pulvin minutely 2 aristolate & sometimes projecting. Upper pulvin minutely 2 aristolate & ciliate. Stamens 3 – anthers large, filaments short, styles purple, plumose – three or four as long as pulsin – syncarpious – ligulate entire – plumose.
