Perennial, caespitose, culms 8"-12" high,
sometimes geniculate below, smooth,
scabrous smooth - leaves plane, laminæ pubescent
slightly smooth somewhat pilose at
base - Spikes about 6 - common racemis glabro
slender - spikes about 6 short pedicels - fertile
paleis racemis & glumes hirsute - spikes 4" long
but florend racemis prolonged at apex - 1 seeded
spikelets 2 fe - lower gl caespitose receptacle
in length of upper...3 seeded aristate acuminate
+ rigid on - herm. gl - lower paleas 3 seeded
duing on its veins & margins, 8 fid at
apex also subulate entire, upper aqualling
the lower strongly bescuriate, veins approp-
rimite, acuminate + minutely aristole lifted
at apex - stamens 3 - anthers large filaments
that styles plumose with very long capillary
awns. Receptacle gl, pedicelled consisting of
a few narrow & aristate paleas & 2 seem
having awnless lemmas - aqualling the fertile gl.
