Glumes chartaceous membranous acute 1 armed the setigerous the upper & outer 1/3-1/2 longer than the lower more armed dorsally scabrous equaling the lower flowers are (two times -) Lower palea chartaceous oblong-lunate 3 nerved - lateral nerves margined - all occurress into setae the lateral 1/2 - 2/3 as long as palea the central 2-3 times its length margins ciliate - 3"" long - central setae 4""-6"" Upper palea equaling the lower entire at the apex scabrous on the keens. Neuter floret of a single armed palea 2 nerved - Keels oblong mucro with a [loose] hernia tip (extremely delicate) - styles 2 distinct at base stigmas forked.
