They are somewhat curiously compressed.
Leaves 6" to 1 foot long - 3" wide at base slightly
acuminate as apex - Panicles conspicuously
involute & rare. Culms Scabrous near the
Panicle which is composed of 20 or more
erect crowded Spikes. Panicle strawcolor,
This + the following Species seem to be allied to Cal.
cristata long, as from the Phillipine Islands - as far
as can be judged from the very meagre description
given - which is excluded from by the genus by
Rbth on account of its triristate lance folius -
Our 2 Species have quite the habit of Chloris
& notwithstanding the armed folious we
prefer to append them to it to multiply
several.
