All the specimens of this plant most of them now specify the original one of Dr James' collection have the apex of the female glumes. "D. folia augustana panicula scitente Torr in Whig. Sporobolus cryptandrus For. *Majestuosus* panicula elongata flgure -- says Nord, spreading few flowered -- Rio Grande Valley, Nov. 5 Byrland; No 1978 Wright & No 720 col. 143 - The female panicla about 1 foot long, rays distant, spicula or separated, pedicle elongated, felicaps & flowers, as in the type. (S) Sporobolus auridei Torr. in Mancip Dep. p. 300. Agrostis auridei Torr. & Ann. Age. Nat. Hist. I. p. 151. Rio Grande Valley Nov. 5, S. Byrland; Wright Nos 1975 & 1977 -- (S) (Sporobolus cryptandrus.) See Page 50. The bluten. 2-4" north. leaves flat or involute 1'-1' long. 2-3 levis broad at the alternate of the daisy. Panicula 8"-1' long. differ planus mostly shorter than the panicla fasciate the spike is usually somewhat less longest, strale very delicate & not readily separably separating from the brownish seed -- Corks Spring Byrland.
