Can. hirta, calyx slender erect, not branching.
Mostly glabrous & often glaucous, leaves co-
White, filiform somewhat rigid, mostly secund.
Sheaths half the length of internods, mostly
smooth & usually pilose ciliate at the throat,
-tipule a minute annular fringe, pennile
erect. Bractea solitary & 1 flowered or 2-3
fist & 2-3 flowered. Pistil in flexuose.
Glumes long uncinate the lower shorter than
the upper longer than the palea, rough
on the mid ribbe - acute & often bifid
when old. Paleas short, hended.
Palea minutely scabrous, usually twisted arms
Nearly equal 3-8 times as long as the one
palea - upper palea minute, & only 2 veined,
scarcely exceeding the ovary - Our styglotes, stigmas
scarcely plumose - anthers shorter than the
stigma - filament extremely delicate - squamule
longer than the ovary - sub acute apic - view.
