Transcription
Pale purple & marked with blackish spots, subtended
by a short culmus headed with very white hairs and atten
uate above into a long, twisted, intricate scarious
style 6-7 lines long which bears the very inequal
awns. The middle awn about 5 lines in length
slightly divaricate. the lateral only 1/2 a line long
and erect. In some specimens the lateral awns
are so very minute as to be scarcely percieved without
the aid of a glass.
