Rouse : I S mi x 600 yards ; I've 't high ;
with precipitous sides ; few indented
quartz brecciated Group.
I have
not found a single rock in the whole of this remarkable
area. The only rocks which I have seen are covered with
crusts of salt and gypsum, and these are so thick that
it is impossible to determine their nature.
The only water which I have found is in a small stream
which flows from the mountains on the north-east side
of the range. This stream is very clear and cold, and
contains no fish or other aquatic life.
I have also seen several springs of hot water issuing
from the ground near the base of the mountain. These
springs are very strong and boil over with great force.
The only vegetation which I have seen is a few patches
of grass growing on the slopes of the mountains. There
are no trees or bushes anywhere in sight.
