General Account 11:00 clock. There were some 200 to 30 natives in camp this morning anxious to trade anything for the small canvas shirts. Large canvas shirts, matches, shoes, salt, etc., bring very little in exchange. We purchased bows, arrows, can, fur bed dresses, blankets, musk bears, semi-gorbs, spears, and the "mimi-maki". They were very friendly and apparently without fear of the airplane as it came and left. The afternoon was spent in packing provisions for the top camps (4 beds tomorrow, 5 beds the 7th, and 3 beds the 12th). There are no monthly provisions for the camp floor. (See Rando note for list of materials) X Also packed up my own goods for storage or shipment (2 beds tomorrow, 1 bed the 7th). Begs to see it: Willbering Top, Netherlands The Sunin 3540m 9 set stick types, 1 mast stick type - left with Mr. Cella at Kelbima to attend during his duration of red operations in that camp. This morning (2:40) we left for the fix camp at the base of Willbering Top. The camp is some eight hours distant from Kelbima, 3/5 of it traveled the first day, 1/5 the second day. A small mid-way camp has been constructed which has blanket, and a few garments for the traveling party. At this camp there are 5 men including soldiers and corporals. We reached the midway camp by noon a little after, and the last of our party was in by 2:00 (See Rando note for work in party). After mid-way camp a skeleton nest was discovered while Rand went to observe as I proceeded on to the upper camps in his place. He had previously planned to come straight through with R.A., collecting log and Soap the cash.
