General Account July 17 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea. The 200 traps were taken in yesterday. A Doropsis was brought in yesterday evening and prepared today. There was also a large number of Hippodamus (200) brought in today. This morning I prepared a few specimens but most of the day was devoted to the packing and checking of equipment for the island party. I left on the 19th to Rabaula Lake with the first shipload of men and equipment. July 18 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea. Prepared a large series of late this morning and the afternoon limited to packing equipment for tomorrow's flight to Rabaula Lake. The afternoon also spent some time in the cag of the Dendrolagus recording his history notes. July 19 Rabaula Lake, Netherlands New Guinea. This morning at 5:53 the Guba left Kimbell Bay with cargo and passengers for Rabaula. It is the first flight in carrying the island party to its highest base. The cargo contained provisions for 2 months for island party, equipment and start preparation of the new camp, lumber for pigs radio equipment, etc. The crew which included other than the plane crew(s), consisted of Captain Terneek, 1 sergeant, 4 soldiers, Amatay cock, and myself. We landed on the lake at 7:15 and within 15 min we were did discharging cargo which took about 1 hour. After that the plane crew put a "down good" join; Capt. Terneek selected a camp site and the soldiers prepared their quarters, both with the aid of assistants of others put up the portable radio and Amabell supervised the erection of a tent. This
