General Account July 14 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea. 200 traps - O A Rhodanize, Myotis, Emballonura, and Saw were brought in by Papuan. The morning we prepared specimens and this afternoon I went into the lat cave 1 km Southeast of Hollandia. Then I obtained 14 Cricopididae x2 Rhinolophidae. This morning we had the first test of the new apparatus. They consist of a square piece of cloth 12 x 12 with 4 cords tied to the corners and the other end of the 6x11 (?) cords attached at the cargo. Then were six chute dropped; the first cage and chute operated ad was lost in the jungle. The second and third the chute failed to unroll due to tangled cords; 4th & 5th the chute opened but one cord broke which allowed the cages to come down rapidly. The food was not injured (cond fruit meat); the 6th was a perfect delivery of a box of bottle. In three sacks of rice dropped two landed unwrigged and the third had a small rip which lost 1/4t + of rice. The monthly mail boat is due tomorrow so I must close to write a little later. July 15 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea. 200 traps - O The natives brought in 3 Dorcopsis. Mr. Elchi brought in 3 Echymipera and 3 Petronius from Dojo (variety). The lats will be prepared in two or three days, the former prepared today. Prepared two Rhodanizes which I had held in captivity for the past few days. The ? 4392 was brought in from Sentoni; the oth is local. The Eogonyge was brought in by Mr. Binkman from his plantation near Tom.
