The remaining members of an expedition arrived by this boat. From the information I have collected there are 73 Dyaks, 50+ Soldiers, 30 Soldier carriers (prison labor) 2 Dutch scientists with their 6 servants, and 1 radio operator. Saturday afternoon the leader of the military party, Cap. Derrick arrived on one of the two Dutch navy planes which patrolled the waters of New Guinea. June 18 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea 200 traps - 1 Melang. Checked the traps and prepared specimens this morning. This afternoon most of my time was spent observing the Greenies and cleaning the Douron skeleton. Today is quite uneventful with the exception that this morning an adult & Philagen was brought in by a ratna. June 19 Hollandia, Netherlands New Guinea 200 traps - 0 This morning several coolies came in, saying that they had taken another dogging. It seems only was saved for specimens (See specimens note below) The afternoon was spent doing a little bit of nothing, doing odd jobs, thinking that I had slept off for a spare moment, and today Sunday was the day. The most eventful thing today was a short talk with my sister and brother in law via the radio. It was good to hear their voices again although it was only for a short time. Reports were that all were well and happy in our family circle.
