25th. J. Richardson 67 General Account 1 Rattus. The following was brought in by natives: 1 Melomys, 1 Anisomya, 2 Melomys, 1 Placogale. 10 Pogonomys, 8 Rattus. This morning tended traps, prepared specimens and set at about 90 more traps and 2 stud traps. This afternoon prepared specimens. Locality: Stop loss. The traps at yesterday begin it camp through old greeny garden and second growth; along the stop river edge in rocky terrain with virgin forest, then came several clear slings. Up the canyon slope and over the ridge through dense forest; into a newly cleared garden; through an old lot producing garden, down thirty steps toward camp through second growth forest; about grassy clearing of native houses; through standard green grown garden. This line is in the general direction N2 from 49 camps covering a distance of not over 1/2 km or less. The traps study was set 80' of camp some 1km. Through a forest of the canyon slope and along the ridge. In latter, along the ridge, had been well worked over by natives pigs and as I consider it a very poor place to trap. Weather: 6:00 - 12:00 overcast. 12:00 - 5:00 large hulk clouds. 13:00 - 20:00 overcast with intermittent rain. Nov. 9.
