28/13 Rickader 1938 52 General Account Sept 22 2km E Mt. Wilhelmina, Netherlands New Guinea 3800m. 67 rat traps, 17 stick traps - 1 Paroeta, 1 Sternops, 3 Rattus. The morning the boys studied the traps and I went down to the valley to a rock which Bays had previously pointed out to me. This was one of a number of very large limestone which led up with the tellus into the valley but because of their size did not bear vegetation with moss and grass as the smaller ones had. The particular rock was 11' x 50' x 50' in size and on edge setting on another fall as that beneath this was a large dry pavetation. Scattered about were a number of bones (see natural cave) which did apparently come from this or more sources. On, I'm sure for 2 dried pellets were found one containing 2 Sternops and the other bird bones perfectly gone. Second from remains a little kitchen midden of 2 pieces for among the bits were several pieces of random nuts and telegrams of a very old fire. I attribute the larger animals to this source. This is the 6th possibility as to account for this a part of the lion craniation one being Dangerous and the other being dog. The rock a few yards east into the bed of the river 15' x 4' which might be attributed to the former. Expansed specimens during the late morning and only afternoon.
