H.Benedictis 1964 Feb 15 Puerto Cevallos, Espanola (Hood) Island, Palapago. of "[illegible]" [crossed out] succulent (no nest), with the gular sacs inflated and got good pictures. The back shows a clear green shear, but the brown bar on the wing is not very distinct. Eye ring dark. Saw a ?, dark-throated, with a red eye-ring, and the young have a very dull red eye-ring. Don't know no nest color at all but they all seems to have a dusky patches found in complete or flumid belly. This feet are grey and the bill pale grey. The ?'s seem to have grey feet (not positive these are mine) but some have a plumage like ? magnificens, with inflated gular sacs in this plumage. Birds at Suarez with black throats and clear white bellies have dull red feet, and seems not unusual to see molting birds with black heads & mottled bellies. This plumage may be distinct from minor but is hell to tell from magnificens. A ? I saw a Suarez yesterday had purplish n avillaries, not sure of the back. Didn't see any signs of active Frigate bird nests. Near where the albatross was there was a pair of Oystercatcher not as farce as at Suarez, and I saw my 1st Green Heron for Hood. (Blue footed Boobies were less common than frigate birds to complete the order of abundance of water birds; saw no other species here. Geospiza conirostris here has the same rock turning habit as at Suarez and saw 2 birds perform quite well, picking up a couple of the large rocks [spoonbills]
