The drop flight is similar to the plunge of L. griseus but l'heminisii seems to dive less often. Often they glide rising 20-25 feet from the surface, well above the horizon, and look much larger than they are. The white flash of the underwing remains very prominent in spite of the true ashy colour there, pattern when lighted is: and in the sun they look very bronzo above, while in clouds they are quite black. The short wing & stoutky appearance plus the rapid flight is probably a very good field recognition charactr for this sp. & L. assanini. As we approached Academy Bay we saw incoming swift and many Blue-footed Boobies. In Academy Bay two were two boobies landed on "the Baranca" and when a third came in saw a little display involving a tail rise up posture, with vocalization, following which one of this treecling birds left. Several Noddies on the cliff. They make a long (1/2 sec), low, soft, racket sound, "Errrrrr" as they fly along about to land. Saw an adult feed a young (7/8 grown) bird from an upright posture, bill down. Young begging from hunched with bill up. the young bird gave a high pitch, decending squeal. Very little other behavior.
