Platform at B/4.5 looks as if it may still be active, but no bird to show any interest, laid a green cat tail loop on it. 5:40 p.m. Due been here over an hour, due looped the Lake in the cat-tails, conditions for observation and hearing have been ideal, but I failed to see or hear more than the 2 adult Coots, presumably of the Ngai. May 19 Lake Temescal, 420 ft., Alameda Co., Calif. The SE♀ is on nest J6.5, while the dr♂preens at L3.—7:20 a.m. 7:35am. I can account to 13 Coots on the Lake today (see next page). About this same time, M♀“Praced” as the SE♂ chased her out of the cat tails at K7. Pless some notes were given. It was not a closely pursued race. About 7:30 2 marked birds (ident?) were chased from N14 to my E tribe, they drifted out to J13 where they loafed awhile. don't due what the set up is here now on the non- nesting birds. The W area seems to be occupied by only 1 bird, 2 birds, marked, apparently are paired at JK/12-13 and looking for an area at O14 or thereabouts. M♀is busy at K7 and 3 unattacked birds see seen together at the N end of the lake. 8:08 a.m. SE♂moves into K7 with M♀, some noises come out of the area, then he moved on down
