Aug 15 Lake Temescal, 400ft, Alameda Co., Calif.- just charged out to K13 to do a wings spleater after two birds there then had a short vocal battle with No 11 pair at J12, and finally retired. There are at least 12 adults but only 4 immatures, the 3 SW and 1 SE. I can't account for either E immature now a bird is coming S from L35 that maybe an E imm. It is an immature so only 1 is not accounted for. The SW familygroup seems to be sticking together and does not seem to be particularly closely attached to their SW area. Now they are feeding with the flock at JKL- 18-19 quite amiably. Only the SE and E birds seem to be strongly on territory. Just now the ZF came out from P17 to chase the grimm I believe to be an E imm from M18 out to about I19, then she turned back and chased a couple of adults that had barely ventured into her area. Aug 17 Univ. Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif.- T87- primaries, secondaries, greater and lesser coverts are nearly fully replaced and grown. Middle coverts are just commencing to be replaced. T94- still no molt started. Old type pin newly shed on this bird. Shield BS. T91- No molt - SS pin showing some extruding new tissue.
