GULLION 1950 Fulica americana 399 May 7 Lake Temescal, 420 ft., Alameda Co., Calif.- 7:25 - E♂ still preening at Q 23.14. 7:28 - he has moved S to feed at Q 21.7. 7:32 - he is out of sight 7:34 - he is and has been, at Q 21.24. 7:36 he is at Q 22.24. ♀ pounced 3 times, it was at bird at H 2Φ, a marked ♀ (BLS?), 7:38 a.m. he is “pantking” at Q 22.16. 7:41, still feeding at Q 22.24. 7:42 - he moved to Q 23.14 to feed. 7:46 he is preening at Q 23.14. 7:49 - still preening. 7:51 - still preening. 7:53 he left Q 23 and moved S to Q 21.3. 7:57 he's out of sight, 7:58 he's just S of the nest clump, now working N on the W side of it, then around to N side of it. 3 people are fishing at Q 21, and he seems concerned this he is not patrolling against them. He is still in just N of the nest clump. at 8:00 a.m. 8:02 he is still in the area just N of the nest clump, as the 3 fellows continue to fish at R 23. 8:03 the E-♀ gave a couple of “pint, pinta”; now the ♂ 8:04 moved from P 23 to Q 22.18, giving a couple of “punts”. One fellow is still fishing at R 22. Now he has left 8:05, E♂ is at Q 22.18. 8:06 he is at Q 22.17. Now the fisherman are at Q 26 almost north and E♂ is feeding at R 22.10-8:09. 8:12 E♂ out of sight. 8:13 W♀ chased a marked ♀ (BLS?) from G 17 to J 17, then tried to chase W|BL at K 17, but W|BL moved only a couple of feet, turned around facing!
