Fulica americana 531 GULLION 050 June 27 Lake Tamescal, 420 ft., Alameda Co. Calif. At between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. tonight after dark, the one egg in nest K 7.17 was warm and marked, both adults and two yng were in the P/6 area and the P/6.2 nest was warm. The [illegible] checking nests at the S end I found nests J7.21, I6.18, I6.1 and H 7.24 all warm that is being used. The old Buddy nest at J6.22 was cold. A bird was giving a "puple-white" note repeatedly near to K 7.17 nest first a few minutes after I'd been out to it. June 28 same locality - Checking back at 2:15 a.m., found a freshly laid egg in nest K 7.17. A bird had been on the nest and apparently lurked in the cat-tails nearby. After I departed I heard a cackle from there. Checking nests at Q 23.8 and Q 23.10 found them both cold. Also the platform at L 4.3. The ♀ was quite concerned about this new Q 23.8 nest. Only the ♂ was with the yng at P/6.2.
