GULLION 250 Tulica americana 498 13 Univ. Calif. Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. remained on shore. Putting those into the water yesterday, they were much washed upon by today, the not noticeably less witted. ne 14 Swisum Marshes Soland Co., Calif.- With Mr. Ralph Noble of the Swisum Refuge, Weissenberg and I spent the day looking for Coots in this area. We went to the Mallard Gun Club at the E end of the area first, then onto Grizzly Island, investigating the Channel Gun Club and an area just a little ways to the E. No Coots on the Mallard or Channel Clubs, at least none seen. Found one in a little area of open water just to the E of the lake. This bird did not flush until nearly stepped on. It had green yellow-green legs, was a 7 with slightly but not greatly enlarged feetes. Harry couldn't find any fludkes in it. It was in good physical shape, bursa 28 mm, very slender & white. Its tail appeared to be in molt, at least it had some pin feather for rectrices. The frontal shield was no more than SS, somewhat featheredged No parasites were found on this bird #78. We moved from there to the Swisum Refuge on Joie Island. At the E end of this area one Coot was flushed but we didn't get close
