Fulica americana June 12 Lake Temescal, 420 ft., Alameda Co., Calif. The new platform at Q22 is not being further developed, at least not at the moment. The structure at Q23.8 seems to be in a good state of repair and may be in use. The M territory is such that the formally neutral area about J13 seems abandoned and now the 4 flock birds are feeding at EF25-26. The M area seems to extend to about HJJ17, or perhaps a little further. The 3 E brood yq seem to be very close to the same plumage stage. One has more club-feathers around the bill than the other, but otherwise they are very much alike. They all have white breasts but more white fronts, bills are all orange red, the pate is covered with black down on each, all have a band of white (faded) wing feathers around the head below the pate area, but most of other plumes are gone. One seemed to be without club-feathers, another with a few. This latter is the one with a crippled right foot. These eggs from nest J6.5 give stinks.
