A moment before, tho a SW bird was at F 10 w/ 1 yng, patrolling against a nearby ♀ Mallard w/ 3 newyng. A ♀ Ruddy with yng in the cat-tails nearly was not molested. Later 3 SW yng were seen feeding with and being fed by tho adults. The M pair seem more firmly entrenched in the M area than ever. Both birds are swimming around in the channel almost as if they owned it, on the other hand the M ♀ seems to have a way of driftting to the N side of the island whenever the SW ♂ appears in the area. Just now the M ♀ was 'purkely' from about K 8.21. One of the E brood has a crippled leg. Only platform in the K 7 area is at K 7.17. Nest J 6.5 finally converted to a wood nest. Eggs A, C, & J found floating in the water nearby. No real defense, tho ♀ 'gamb-ming' at me giving a vigorous bob of the head.
