The nest at P16, 17 is much developed, mstly with stems of dead cat-tails, but some green leaves in it put a green loop in it for a check. Q22 nest is no longer in repair and is sinking, only a little but opposite the ramp still is dry and above water and that is only for a few days probably. The structure at Q23, 8 is in good repair and probably is being used nightly. A Song Sparrow nest with a couple of young is close by. All put a green leaf loop in this nest. The adults show no concern for this area now, not moving north from P16 as I worked out to Q23 & 22. Not even a 'punch'! R1 of E brood caught at P16-TMT 61/nn. shield-6.5 mm., mid-toe 34 mm., tarsus 26 mm. Body plumes fading on this bird as on the sng L1, club feathers still present on head and abundant, pecking at me constantly. Jewel lake 510 ft., Central Costa B., Calif.- At 12:10 a.m. 2 who by young were seen cutting into the cat-tails at L-20. 12:13 p.m. one bird cutting across from near the sidewalk towards S-26 was met by another bird coming out from M-25, and they moved S along the E side of the island, billing etc.
