W/R - shield S, not much enlarged from May 17, legs yellowgreen, keel brown, tag nearly gone, bad swelling to sole, no molt. 10-1 - legs very yellow, shield much progressed, not more than SS, flatter than on May 10 (see p. 455), shield class about 12, swollen soles, no wing molt. T97, legs green but scaling, shield very little more than F, no wing molt, soles swollen. Y-XR - little if any shield recession from May 17, legs YG, keel Br., no wing molt, soles swollen. (P/O) pin well embedded, legs YG, shield swollen, prob-like (as it was on the SE ? at Lake Temescal the other day), no wing molt, seems to be fresh growth on shield, soles swollen badly, keel slightly Br. Some bird lost a red band in the cage. Lake Temescal, 420 ft., Alameda C., Calif. at 9:46a.m. SE ? on nest J6.5, ? was alone at L5, but she moved into the willows at K6 to "punk-unk" at me when I arrived at L6. 9:49 M ? patrolling at LM11 as the E ? "pubkes" and E ? "poonks" at O13, as I appear the E ? takes 3 young N while the M ? remains at N13 patrolling against me, both birds calling punks & "poonks. When the ? got the young to safety at P15 the M left his foot and joined them.
