A Black-shouldered Night Heron is in the trees there, but I doubt that is what the "punking" is about. Lines readily visible on the page now. 4:43 - M♀ "punk-punking" answered by the SE♀ on the nest; a moment later 4:44 the SE♂ in S bay was punking about something. Now 4:45 a.m. Both M+SE♀ are giving low "punts"; the SE♀ ceased but the M♀ is continuing. It sounds as if the SE♂ may be molesting Mallards in the S bay, 4:50 a.m. SE♂ working into the S cat-tails, must have found O or a SW out of line, cause there was a big splash and splatter then what sounded like a churn at about J5. M♀ continued "punking" until about 4:53 when SE♂ came out from J7 and moved over to K7. Then her "punts" became "punk-punks". By 5 a.m. he had left and she resumed "punking" An occasional "punt" is heard from the incubating SE♀. At 5:05a.m. E♂ flew out from O32 to attack W/BL at J33. The latter dived, and surfaced, to be attacked again diving again, with 3 repeats finally moving to G33 where E♂ now longer chased and returned to his area. 5:10 a.m. SE♂ chased M♀ to W side of island. Maybe he's going to get her out of the SE area.
