Euleca atenasana -38- June 20 Jewel Lake, Tilden Park, Contra Costa Co. Calif. A minute after the above observation I found a nest with 6 eggs in it apparently belonging to the south pair. Since the eggs were cool when numbered I didn't hang around to measure the nest etc. The nest is at about 5:13. It has a smaller inside diameter than most nests and seems to be deeper; it is much higher out of the water and lacks an extensive gangway. It is a very few feet from open water. There are a few breast feathers among & under the eggs, but not an attempt to line the nest with feathers. The nearly brood nest appears to be in good repair and no use. Whitehead was working (about 5:30 p.m.) in the area north of the island. The NO came over and "puked" me vigorously. Probably another nest but I haven't time to look for it tonight. Six young and both the North parents were on the water in area E+F-21-22 feeding about 5:35 p.m. All of the flying but one were together. The parents were each singly, on either side and several feet away from the brood. The young were busily tripping and doing some diving. They all have white under tail coverts and are all nearly the size of the P parent. The upper tail coverts look fully adult but the rest of the plumage is not. Their bills are a light
