The bird of the north brood seem to be fully as large as their mother tho still smaller than their father. They are extremely white on the front surfaces. Bill seems to be getting lighter but is by no means white. One of the north wood young was seen chasing dragon-flies. The insects were resting on some floating vegetation at F/9 and the young was slowly creeping up on them in a charging position - didn't seem to be having much luck. Once about 7:55 a.m. The N♂ closely pursued the N♀ from G/14 to G/18 - acting as if he were trying to mount her, although his display was given at any time - just as he was about to mount, each of about 5 times, she dived and came up a foot or two ahead. All the while 5 cheering young came streaming along behind. The young of the south brood are still mostly not as white as those of the north brood.
