Fulica Americana 373 May 2 Lake Tamescal, 450ft, Alameda Co., Cal.- lowering it as she chased the W pair out to F14, she then returned to N17 to patrol. Finally found W-0/B around the corner at the Nord, by flycasting floats, apparently an outcast from the population. I note that a small scared bird, supposedly 3% is in close company to W1/B today. - The feathers on W-0/B seem to be losing their glue, they are sticking up at all sorts of strange positions. 5:35. WO driving W1/B from K14 to K18 to M18 to M14 at which time EF flying down from M11 hit them both and sent them scotering; I am able to account for about 1/4 Costs on the lake today. Six are birds in resident pairs, and seven are "plants" with clipped wings, while another, W F is apparently hanging around because of her clipped mate. The MF seems to have departed, at least I have not seen a bird with the pinated bird today in the M area. Whether C is present or not I don't know. At 5:53 as I approached the nest the EF came goonking over from D24 to the nest area. The F is now on the nest, facing NE. The F, still poonking, is fleeing at Q23. 6:05 till now the EF has been at Q23 intermittently "poonking". now she moved down to the next clump but was back a moment later, and on out to P23, now back in to Q23.13, to Q23.17 back out to P23 and N.
