N. 6:45 E♀ moving out from cat-tails at Q 25. 6:52 E♀ passes S at P 22. 6:54 after some "pubkng" etc at the S end, the E♂ came off the nest, giving some several "pubks". As he went S the ♀ gave a series of low "pubke-mukes", then I answered with a note that was almost a crow but never actually was. Now 6:56:30 a bird is coming towards the nest, reached it at 6:57 and settled 6:58 p.m. Now 7:05 the E♂ came up by the nest clump and passed on N, to Q23. 13. 7:11 E♂ passed the nest clump goning S, a pair of Mallards passed by a little ways behind him. He got to P20 before turning, with pubkng and chasing them out. He went on and they came on in, then he turned back, splatted at the ♀, churned and routed them all at P20. As soon as he went on they again started in to Q 1:9. It's getting dark enough that I can just see the lines on the page. Also getting a shadow from the moon. This is really a bright moon tonight. Now 7:55 I can almost see the lines on the page. Just checked the platform at P16.2 - it has the ♀ on it. 8:58 p.m. checking P16.2, no ♂, he was in the iris at P16.24. Seems to be
