Fulica americana 357 Apr 28 Lake Temescal, 420ft, Alameda Co., Calif. -at the S end. Just heard quite a bit of crowing, punking etc. Just now 5:48 a chased from SW area to F11 and a paired display there. Now 5:49, a ♀ poorking and a couple of punke-junkers at Q as P 18 or 19. Might be the E♀ but I am not sure since I have not seen her move S. Couldn't locate her in the cat-tails where I thought she was so it probably is her, now 5:54 she just moved N past P23 from further S. A pair of Buddies are working into the mouth of the E inlet. 6:11, so far no antagonism, they seem to be uncertain, but at present point it is about my presence. The ♂ Buddy is displaying about 6 feet from the nest, no response. The bird on the nest is now facing the ramp. A Coot just crowed off along the W side near D 32-33, the sun is now completely off the lake 6:14 p.m. 6:16. the Buddies are still patrolling off the nest area. 6:25 p.m. the Buddies left about 6:17 and now the E♀ is moving S at P 22. 6:30-now a general sounding off of 3 birds 2♂ and 1♀ along the west shore. 6:31- the E♀ poorked and punke-junked
