Fulica Americana 331 Apr 24 Lake Temescal, 420ft, Alameda Co., Calif. -the M and then returned to preen for a short time by the nest, and then move on south. About 1:20 & ? was driving W O/B out of the W area. He really trounced him royally, the latter finally going to F19 after having been pursued on and under the water from H14. Now 1[illegible]:35, E O is in the nest area for the second time since to left the nest. He is feeding at Q23.19 and thereabouts. Now he is bathing at Q23.13, enjoying himself. At 1:45 he is preening at Q23.13. Has been for about 10 minutes. Finally, at 1:50 he quite preening and moved gone to the S side of the nest area. The ? "poonkel" four times but sat tight, he patrolled just out of the area, but she didn't come off. 1:53, the ? is pushing at Q21, then moved N by the point at P23, ? did not respond. Now 1:55, ? gave a couple of low "punts" tho ? responded immediately by moving from the P23 pt into the inlet opposite the nest, facing me. Then he moved to P23.11 to feed. He's still there preening now 1:59 p.m. Now 2 p.m. he has moved to the point at P23, where he pushked twice and then drove. Now 2:01 he has moved around to the S side of the nest and is going S. Now 2:10, E O back in area, was feeding at P23.11, then moved over my nest and finally off to the S.
