Nest is not built up further, or very little, from what it was Monday, April 17. There are several breast feathers on the edge of the nest. As I approached (6:20 pm) nest #6.5, the ♀ met me with poonking and churning. After she ♂ joined her and churned. 7 eggs in nest, all warm, non-pipped. They smell a little rotten, shook #1, it seemed to slosh around. Now 3 nests are active, and all three apparently incubating. Don't know how many eggs are in #22.13. Apr 21 Aquatic Park, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Foot population seems to have completely left this lake. None at all this morning. A few Scapcs around tho. Lake Temescal 420ft, Alameda Co., Calif. Bird W-01B (formerly #C) is to be released here this morning with its crown feathers flattened with Duco cement. Burva is a little over 15 mm, its right hallux is broken and its feet are generally in poor condition. It has leg bands S-B. Frontal shield is large, bill a little battered. Left exposed shank is red-orange. Bird released at 12 m at R22. ♀ nearly off nest, ♂ on nest, giving low poonbs to encourage E♂ as he displays near nest.
