This is the only Cost visible on the lake. at 4:45 p.m. It is the ♀, now a gang of people moving along the road at the E side have caused the ♀ to move out of the cat-tails at D12 and to cross to F-9. Now I can hear but not see the M♂. When this same mob of people came across the dam they chased the Goose out of the NW Cove and it moved down without any disturbance from the coots. A moment ago a bird was visible at 6/8 but it is now out of sight. Checked the nest at M25, 19. Eggs warm and all present. No defense until about 2 minutes later when the ♂ came out of the cat-tails at M27 and moved around to K25 to “pnhk” and chum (5:10 p.m.). The ♀ later came up from H18 to join but not to take any part in the display. Could clearly see the band on the leg of the ♂, so I know he is a last years bird. Apr 19 Univ. Calif.
