For a couple of minutes one of the young was seen pecking at some floating cat-tail material. About 5:15 p.m. the ♀ crossed to N26.16 followed by 2 young and met by a third. There he briefly fed them some more. About this time a fifth, very yellow bird was seen preening while running itself about N25.24. There may have been more in that area that I could not see. While the parents were generally quiet, the ♂ puffed some while I visited the trap, and later was was giving a low "puint-puint", which did not seem to be responded to by anything. I have still not heard any young calling recently.- About 5:30, the S ♂ was in about H7.9 with one small yellow young, diving for some thin grass like substance and feeding it to the youngsters. The adult then moved into the cat-tails nearly, and the young just remained on the open water for over a minute, being extremely conspicuous. Then it started moving slowly towards I5.21, when in the entrance to this gap, one of the parents came rapidly thru the cat-tails from about I6.12 to the young, offering it food, diving once, then leading it deep into the cat-tails.
