The male did not respond, but swam right on by. Now 9 a.m., about 15 minutes later the male is on the platform, preening and giving an occasional "pubh?". I can see his mate. Now 9:04, his mate is coming down along to above, giving low "punts", his "pubhs" as he coming more excited but he's still preening, hasn't stopped preening at all. She is feeding along the cat-tails about 5 feet N of him. 9:06, he is still pubhking and preening, she is feeding nervously just N. Now 9:07 he has ceased preening, is pubhking more gamently and is moving cat-tails ground building up the platform. Now she is swimming by to the W, to left, they went over by the G22 nest, then he started chasing her very closely as if trying to mount, she diving when he was almost on her, several times, once he dived behind her, all the while he was giving the "pubh- uh, pubh-uh" note and she the "punts" note.
