They are probably scattered thru the cat-tail along the dam and around the island. - One of the costs from pair C/2 was heard crowing about 6:30 p.m., no circumstances were observed. May 7 same locality Nest C/2.13 is deserted with 2 cold eggs left behind, #1 & 2, 3:55 p.m. Both eggs weighed. Despite the weight difference, these 2 eggs both measure 50x36 mm., so there is no great size difference. No parents or young around this nest when I visited it. - Nest at O25.19 still without eggs. Most of the time no birds around but about 7:15 p.m. the ♂ was in the area, vigorously puking. One of the birds in area F6-9/10 - was heard crowing about 7 p.m. Heard nor saw no young today, nor did I see the S pair today, and only the male of the N pair. May 8 same locality - Both of the deserted eggs from C/2.13 broken open this morning and found to be rotten. No signs of an embryo ever having developed. One bird (the ♀?) of the south pair swimming in the open water about 7:45o. m. between E9 & D12. Later, now the trap on the island both birds of the north pair were evident and noisy.
