At least it is a little un-nest like today, but should be easily repaired. Both f & F were nearly to show interest. While they were near me at Q 23, another bird was chasing a flock at P 30. The weeping willows within territorial waters don't seem to be badly browsed, the willows B 27+28, C 35, C 33, D 26 and to a less extent E 14 and 12 are the ones most badly beating up. Mar 26 Jewel Lake 5/10 ft., Contra Costa Co., Calif. S pair feeding along W side of lake at 8:35 a.m. from .H 12 to H 4. S F seems to be feeding mostly on insects picked off the water surface while S M is feeding on insects and to some degree on the green tops of cat-tail leaves. Once S F, at F or G 9 gave two or 3 "pooks", about 5 minutes later, S M in the same area, gave several low "pukes". The S M coming over to C 11, ate some down from cat-tails. All the birds on the lake seem to be spending most of their time feeding on floating insects. Once the S F chased a 5 th bird out of H 4, chasing it to F 18. Immediately both birds of the N pair came down, M charging. A of "pooks" were heard from the other side.
