S - bird feeding at C20, as the 5th bird moves S from there M loses interest, but then comes on, at a course about parallel to 5th, moving, sometimes in charging position, sometimes not, to I28, while 5th feeds on Potomaceter at D19. Guess the shield on 5th is at least SS, but not more. Found a developing nest at N25, 23. Platform well built, several cat-tail leaves in ramp, no cup yet, cat-tails on top are rather loosely piled on. Examined the cat-tails from B17 to BC11, also F9, was not able to find any trace of a nest or platform structure. Am quite certain there is none. Legs scaling, revealing a yellow under layer. The feet on this bird are in rather bird condition. A piece of skin removed that may have been the testosterone pellet - if it wasn't then none is present, which I suspect is the case. Shield on this bird - 17 mm long by 14 mm wide, and projecting way above the surrounding feathers. No sign of new recent growth, it is
