About 15 min. later the young bird could hold its head erect. When I approached the nest the first time today the male came in first to meet me, then the female came up, in full view, the only time she has done that. When I put the young hatched bird back in the nest, only the male showed any interest, and that was very little. Don't know whether they're there with that nest or not, suspect that they are. Trap area and nest 026.6 visited about 7:10 p.m. Pretty dark, about 20 minutes after sundown. Trap empty- the last hatched young was deal in its nest, didn't seem to have any of the vigor that egg 6 had. [when it hatched] The male parent defended the nest, but not vigorously, he came many feet to do it however. I hoped to find the whole brood on the nest, but no luck. The age dead young from egg 1 is preserved in alcohol. Also the egg, after drying. May 1 same locality - nest C12.13 had an incubating bird at 11:40 a.m.- left the nest when I moved into a better position for observation. The parents & brood from 026.6 were in that area. At least seven young were counted crossing one of the openings, and a little later another bird was seen That I believe was no.8. The ? was leading the brood thru to eat-
