Fulica Americana 208 Feb 25 Univ Calif Campus, Almeda Co., Cal. Greens. Lettuce, grass, Brussels sprouts, celery tops, spinach and carrot tops. The celery tops, leaves that is seemed to rate first, at least they were cleaned up first; grass seemed to rate one par with lettuce, some birds preferring the grass to the lettuce. Brussels sprouts were pecked at a few times and about otherwise ignored. Carrot tops and spinach have been given very little attention. This afternoon a very apparent peck order seems to be evident. V6V seems to be at the top, even to chasing V2V. V2V rules over Y/LB, GE and Y/1G, also apparently over all the ff. W8 seems to rank top among the ff, with O next. CW rule over LG/B+(UWM). Where P/O rates I don't know. Just now W8 came up a jump ahead of V2V, when she reached the top she stopped and spread at her tail but made no other sign. W8 once gave several typical f notes, and V6V once gave a series of o notes. W8 just gave some while chasing CW under the fern. Y/LB and LG/B+ seem to be together a lot, also there seems to be some ties between V2V and O. W8 seems to be particularly aggressive against LG/B+, chasing her on every occasion.
