Fulica americana 207 [illegible] Feb 24 Univ Calif, Campus, Alameda B, Calif - attention to her. Her shield doesn't seem to be especially swollen. tho I can't be sure from here. VBG is getting pretty hot in his pursuit of XLB, chasing him out of the area twice with considerable vigor. XC seems to just plain desire to stay near the pen out of the area defended by VBG. GW was moving a cat-tail around, but no other bird has shown any tendency to display. GW, VBG, O, BE, XLB, OIP and YPM will are all tolerated. Now XLB is also in the area. O is nibbling at XIG and XLB is or just was nibbling on the unmarked bird. 7:55 a.m. VBG just carried a piece of cat-tail over to WB and deposited it, then promptly sat down on it. Neither bird gave any display or showed any particular interest in the other bird. Feb 25. Same locality.
