Usual structures saved, small bursa present not large enough to probe. Flukes also found in nasal sinuses. Bird 27 - J, gizzard 70 x 45 x 40 mm. Mrs. Vogt found a tick in the head area, otherwise no parasites found in this bird. Neither this nor the preceding birds were as fat as the earlier birds. 26 had a small 1 cm diverticulum from the mid-section of the small intestine. Usual parts of 27 saved. Bursa could not be definitely located - if present then it is pin sized and about 10 mm long. Watching the birds in the courtyard - all the lettuce except a little floating in the water is gone, coots are now busy diving on carrot tops (first choice) and cabbage (green) the second choice. The four birds (only 3 seen) having the hormone implants don't seem to be acting any different than normal. BX4 was struggling at some cat-tail for awhile, and then fiddled around picking sticks up. Jan 30 Same locality - Purple cabbage in courtyard not touched, most of carrot tops, all lettuce, most of apples gone. Some green cabbage left but that is heavily eaten upon.
