Fulica americana 183 July 1950 Jan 29 Univ. Calif Campus, Alameda Co., Calif. Bird 21 - ♂, no Trematodes, gut saved for Mrs. Voge. Tip of one caeca saved in Bouins. Usual tissues and parts saved. Couldn't find much in the way of a bursa, found one pin sized deal about 10 mm long that might be it, but it was awesly to small to probe. Big gizzard and gall bladder, as apperth is normal. Bird 22 - ♀, no trematodes, gut saved for Mrs. Voge. Bursa large eough to be probed - 22 mm. Usual parts saved. Gizzard and gall bladder large. Bird 23 - ♂, 2 Trematodes in nasal sinuses between eyes - also found at least 6 small mites in the tissues directly in the mid-line between the eyes. At least 4 of them preserved in alechol.. No haematodes in body cavity, gut saved for Mrs. Voge. Gizzard normal 80 x 50 mm, mostly muscle. Bursa present, 30 mm long. Usual tissues saved. Bird 24 - the leg of this bird, being typical green, is nearest to Ridgway's "Yellowish oil green". ♀, no parasites, usual parts saved. Lots of fat on this animal - couldn't find a definite bursa. Bird 25 - ♂, couldn't find a bursa, usual parts saved, no parasites present. Very fat, fat under skin and throughout the body. Spleen normal, live with a mottling, piece fixed in Bouins, gizzard and gall bladder Normal large.
