Fulica americana 182 Jan 27 Illus. Calif. Campus Alameda Cal. Calif. gizzard on this bird. Spleen of both birds apparently normal. 18-♂, testes put in Bouin, testes small undeveloped. Cloaca, syrinx etc saved, 5 Mono tones found among membranes surrounding peri- cardial cavity; 1 more among mesenteries in mid-kidney area. Breast full, some fat on skin, some in other parts also. No Trematodes in nasal sinuses of 18. Cestodes found in both 16 & 17. Blood smear made of 17 from heart. Bird 19- no Trematodes found in body or in nasal area. Gut put aside for Mrs. Voge—naval parts saved, testes in Bouin. Spleen normal, gall bladder big, as is apparently normal, gizzard again huge. Bird 20-♂, no Trematodes found. Gut saved for Mrs. Voge. Naval parts saved—testes in Bouin. Large gizzard, large gall bladders. No Parva found—don't think it's there. Full breasted and fattest of the lot. Had a lead pellet in the flesh just dorsal to cloaca.—Haven't time to do more birds so the rest will have to go into the courtyard pen. Jan 29 same locality—Noted this morning that the some lettuce still was in the pool, all the grass thrown out had been cleared up. Also it appears that most of the carrot tops are gone. All the lettuce on the ground seems to be gone.
