Shortly afterwards it charged and splatted after another bird, driving it to F18. 1:15 p.m. - two birds, one much smaller than the other, crossed from F9 to C10 - neither giving a note - the shield on the smaller bird is flat but of its larger companion, swollen. The larger bird moved on down along the cat-tails, towards C14 - but seemed to have been intercepted tho I am not sure - a momentary conflict occurred with splashing - A bird with swollen shield and tail in semi- spread condition - feeding at I5. Now 1:25 p.m. - Two pairs active - One pair with pinned bird working out from D12, across to F10 - driving aside a small bird at F10 - another single bird w/swollen shield (SS) moving around in area D+E 14+15.- another bird w/SS active in area G&H 4+5. 1:30 p.m., pinned bird at G8 giving a very high pitched "purrch", a vigorous note. A wire is dangling from this pin, if it is a single wire then the bird may be B, if [illegible] double its one of the known sex birds. Whatever bird it is, it is at least most interested in this Sand as a territory. The way the pin hangs on the bird leads me to suspect it is not B.
